The title of this post says it all! What have I been up to these past few days? Classes. Eat. Homework. Sleep. Repeat. I fully realize that I'm here in Spain first and foremost to take classes in order to speak Spanish better, but goodness gracious! I haven't had much time at all to get out and explore. I will say that all of the studying and time spent on assignments has paid off, though. I have a 99% in Advanced Oral Spanish and a 98% in Spanish Phonetics, two of the highest level classes offered at the undergraduate level. I'm very proud of myself and will continue to work hard to maintain excellent grades.
Something fun that I got to experience yesterday was the weekly open air market in the Plaza Mayor here in Segovia. It's like a giant flea market. Vendors sell fruit, veggies, clothes, cassettes (!!!), vinyl records, accessories, fish, cheese, meat, pastries, and MORE! Usually, the prices are excellent. I bought three oranges and three mangoes, since my señora doesn't usually have those fruits at home. The orange I ate yesterday was seriously the best orange I have EVER eaten! ¡Qué rica! Check out my pictures from the market down below.
Being that it's (finally) Friday, I plan on making the most of tonight, this weekend, and Monday morning/afternoon. (We're having evening classes for the next two Mondays, as to have more time to travel on the weekends.) I leave for Burgos in the morning bright and early. From Segovia, it takes about two hours via train to get to Burgos. I'll be sure to write all about my weekend in Burgos in my next blog entry! I've never been to Burgos, so it'll be a weekend full of adventure and new experiences!
This evening (Friday), I plan on celebrating la noche de luna llena (the night of the full moon). There will be festivities going on all over the city! I plan on attending the flamenco jazz concert happening right by my house in the Plaza de San Martín and the Irish dance show in front of the aqueduct. The best part? It's all free! I'll be sure to add pictures from the festivities when I get back from Burgos.
Well, I'm off to pack for Burgos and meet up with mis amigos and enjoy the festivities! Happy Full Moon to everyone! :)
